Get Outside

I highly encourage you to get outside today! If anything, you’ll get vitamin D from the sun, which is important for many reasons:

  • it boosts your immune system,
  • helps fight infections,
  • improves bone health,
  • and improves muscle strength.

My husband and I are active and love the outdoors, but if you don’t, here are some fun ways for everyone to get outside!

Tip: Bring Food and Water

Even if you’re going to be on your porch, deck, patio, or front yard, bring some food and water. It will give you something to do and enjoy while you’re outside. We prefer fruit and/or granola bars. If you’re with a friend, lemonade or iced tea is good too.

  1. Go for a Walk

Lithia Park in the Fall

Go for a walk. If you don’t have a great neighborhood to walk in, there are plenty of nice parks. One of our favorite parks where we live is Lithia Park in Ashland, Oregon. It’s most beautiful during the spring and fall months, because the flowers are blooming and there are so many colors. However, you can always find ducks or turtles in the pond. Be sure to bring your kids or your dog, they will love the adventure!

  1. Plant a Garden

Plant a garden. If you don’t have much space for an in-ground garden, then grow a garden in pots. There is lots of enjoyment to be found in watering them and watching them grow! My husband grows tomatoes, peppers, basil, and even trees in pots on our patio! Here are my top 5 favorite herbs to grow at home.

  1. Have a Picnic

Picnic includes towel, sandwich, apples, crackers, a banana, water, and good company

Take your friends or family on a picnic. You don’t have to go to the park, you can have a picnic in your own front yard! Pack a sandwich, fruit, nuts or crackers, and some water, grab a towel to sit on and you’ll be all set to go!
