My Everyday Routine with a 15 Month Old
Having a consistent routine is beneficial for you and your baby. When you have a routine, it’s easier to plan healthy snacks, meals, exercise, and things you enjoy. When you plan, you can effectively use your time well and decrease your stress level.
Note: Not everyday goes as planned and that’s okay! It’s important to be thankful for what’s going well and work to improve what isn’t.
I wanted to share my everyday routine as a wife and mom of our 15 month old baby, Bethany. We use a block schedule and it differs on the weekend. However, nap time and bedtime is the same everyday.
5:30-6:30 a.m.: Wake Up!
I’m a morning person, so I enjoy waking up early. I wake up at 5:30 a.m. to read my Bible and drink some tea. After Bible reading, I stretch or exercise.
6:30-8a.m.: Morning/Breakfast Time!
After exercising, I get ready for the day, make our bed, and pack a lunch for Brandon.
*7a.m. Bethany Wakes Up!
After Bethany is all ready for the day, we eat breakfast as a family at about 7:30 a.m.
8-9a.m.: Dinner Prep Time!
I love quick and easy dinners and if there’s anything I can get done in the morning, I do. Whether it’s soup in the crock pot or Instant Pot and/or chop meat or vegetables. Some easy meals to prep (or complete) in the morning are:
- Instant Pot soups
- Crockpot meals
- Kielbasa sausage & Potatoes
If I don’t have anything to prep, I spend some time working on my to-do list and cleaning up the house.
During this time, Bethany plays independently.
9-11a.m.: Outdoors & Fun
This is the time where I go on a walk with Bethany, visit family and/or friends, chat on the phone, run any errands, or appointments that I make. However, I always do some kind of physical activity with Bethany.
*9:30ish: Snack Time
11-12:30p.m.: Lunch Time
At 11 a.m., Bethany and I eat lunch and, if we’re home, watch Sesame Street. I’ve never been a fan of T.V., but Bethany loves Elmo, so I let her watch it. After lunch, I clean up and we play, read a book, and settle down for a nap.
12:30-3:30p.m.: Nap Time!
This is a larger part of the day where I can complete anything I need to finish that day. While Bethany is sleeping, I can work on blogging, organizing, cleaning, or any hobby I’m enjoying at home. Sometimes I even take a much needed nap.
3:30-5p.m.: Snack & Play Time
When Bethany wakes up, she eats a snack. Then she plays with her toys or we even take another walk if the weather is nice.
5-6p.m.: Dinner Time
If there’s anything else I need to do to make dinner, I finish it in this hour. Then we eat and clean up before 6p.m.
6-7p.m.: Bathtime & Pajamas
After dinner time, I give Bethany a bath and put her pajamas on. While we get ready for bed, I pick out her outfit for the next day and make sure her diaper bag is packed and ready.
*7p.m.: Bethany Goes to Bed
7-8p.m.: Clean Up & Prep
I prepare Brandon’s lunch for the next day and put out anything that I can for dinner. This makes it easier for me in the morning if I’m ready with
- Canned goods
- Dry goods
- Baking ingredients
- Pots and/or pans
8-9:30p.m. Spouse Time
This is our time to relax and reconnect with each other. We do this by talking, praying, playing a game, reading a book, or watching a show while cuddling up on the couch together. Sometimes we go to bed early, but always together. We have found that making sure we go to bed together has really deepened our relationship!
